In 25 years, the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra has managed to become one of the country's most innovative and vital ensembles, with a high international reputation. Together with the American star pianist Jason Moran and Norwegian bassist Ole Morten Vågan, they will perform at a small selection of concerts at Norwegian festivals in 2026 with the album "Go To Your North" from 2025.

Jason Moran is one of the strongest musical voices in American jazz and improvisational music today. He first came to attention in the late nineties through his work with the trio The Bandwagon, but has over time distinguished himself as a very forward-thinking and conceptual thinker, composer, curator and artistic personality.

Since its birth in 2000, the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra has established itself as one of Norway's and Europe's leading ensembles for improvised music, through collaborations with international musicians such as Joshua Redman, Anna Webber and Chick Corea, but also as a musical medium for young Norwegian composers such as Eirik Hegdal, Anja Lauvdal, Heida Mobeck, Marius Neset, Erlend Skomsvoll and Signe Emmeluth. 

Ole Morten Vågan is one of Norway's most active bassists and musicians, and has worked with TJO since 2002, and was artistic director of TJO between 2017-2025. Vågan and Moran first collaborated when the latter was Artist In Residence at Moldejazz in 2013, and they meet again in this project, where Vågan has rearranged and recomposed Moran's music for a star-studded cast of musicians handpicked for the occasion.
