HEDVIG MOLLESTAD TRIO

📍Byscenen May 9th, 22:00 🎫 One ticket, three concerts

"The love child of Mahavishnu Orchestra and Black Sabbath"

After every album released by Hedvig Mollestad Trio, critics try to suggest a fitting genre for the captivating, uncompromising and “in-your-face"-hitting music from the trio. Is it jazz or rock? Stoner-swing? Or perhaps doom-jazz? Classic Rock got closest: Jazz Sabbath

Hedvig Mollestad Trio is the love child of Mahavishnu Orchestra and Black Sabbath! Or was it Terje Rypdal and King Crimson? It doesn’t matter, this is music that will make you put your hands up in the air and smile from ear to ear, perhaps make your beard smile while you enjoy a cold beer and feel that life is good!

MOJO, Wire, Classic Rock and Downbeat praise the down-to-earth and in-your-face-loud trio, and Hedvig’s latest release with the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra Maternity Beat gave them some well-deserved appreciation outside of Norway’s boarders.

If your heart lies close to jazz or free jazz, or if you rather prefer a heavy beat with pumping bass, this band has become a favored live act. They’ve played everything from small dirty bars to big, classy concert halls and jazz festivals.
