Kim Myhr - Feral Songs
A new chapter
Feral Songs was initially thought to be a collection of stripped-down and playful songs, but over the course of four years, the songs just grew and grew, and a small forest turned into a maze-like jungle. It’s Myhr’s most complex but also most immediate project yet. It’s both out-there and in-there, delicious and painful, grounded and dreamy, sincere and deceiving, hedonistic and spiritual. This is music he's always wanted to make, but haven't dared or known how to.
Kim Myhr has spent the last four years working on Feral Songs, a set of surreal and gorgeous pieces that takes his music into the area of song. Feral Songs is an invitation into a lush and imaginary personal space, where the line between the intimate and fictional is blurred. It’s luxurious and indulgent, but with the near-death experience of everyday life always hiding in the shadows.
Kim Myhr is a prolific experimentalist who has performed worldwide since 2005. He received an Honorary Mention at the Nordic Music Prize in 2018 for his album You | me, and was nominated for Norwegian Grammy in 2020 for his album Vesper. He has released nine solo albums, and has collaborated with Australian Art Orchestra, Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, Jenny Hval, Quatuor Bozzini to mention a few.
