TRONDHEIM JAZZ ORCHESTA 25 YEARS
Trondheim Jazz Orchestra has, ever since the "miracle concert" with Chick Corea and Erlend Skosvoll at Molde International Jazz Festival in 2000, developed itself to become one of the leading big jazz ensembles in Europe. They are known for writing brand new projects and new line-ups, and through this open pool of musicians the orchestra has shown a great artistic width and quality in their work.
The orchestra is known for collaborations with international legends such as Chick Corea, Pat Metheny and Joshua Redman, but also Norwegian composers and artists such as Erlend Skomsvoll, Eirik Hegdal, Maria Kannegaard, Kirsti Huke, Hanna Paulsberg, Marius Neset, Espen Berg and Marianna Sangita, to name a few.
They have also been awarded two Spellemann awards (Norwegian Grammys), with Marius Neset for "Lion" in 2014 and with GURLS for "OUI" in 2022.
This Jazzfest, Trondheim Jazz Orchestra is performing with a special line-up to look back at the 25 years of service. The anniversary concert will consist of new original and rearranged material by Hanna Paulsberg, Erlend Skomsvoll, Marianna Sangita Røe, Eirik Hegdal and the retiring artistic director Ole Morten Vågan, who has led the orchestra the last eight years!
