Tonestormerne
In September 2010 there's a meeting between Trondheim Jazz Orchestra and Erlend Skomsvoll in Molde. For two days they're preparing and rehearsing Erlend's new and challenging arrangements of Chick Corea's music.
In the documentary "Tonestormerne", we follow Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, directed by Erlend Skomsvoll, who are preparing for a reunion and a celebratory tour with Chick Corea. This celebrates the 10 year anniversary of the "miracle concert" with TJO and Corea during Molde International Jazz Festival in year 2000. The collaboration resulted in a bigger tour around the world, a huge success that got excellent critics from Japan and USA.
In Tonestormerne, the musicians meet again after 10 years. They are touring Norway and Sweden, and the movie follows the tour. We follow the artists closely during their preparations, and the audience is given a close look into the process of such a production.
This is the story of a completely unique collaboration between Chick Corea, Erlend Skomsvoll and Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, a collaboration that has set its mark in both Norwegian and international jazz history.
This is also a "behind the scenes story" about tension, intensity, nervousity and reflections. And, not at least, a huge joy for performing and the importance of creating something big.
