Mats Eilertsen "Memorabilia"
Mats Eilertsen Trio and Trio Mediaeval in an exciting collaboration.
Mats Eilertsen is a very active musician and composer and has, after studying in Jazzlinja, traveled and played around the world with a large number of artists. Tord Gustavsen, Bobo Stenson, Håkon Kornstad, Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, Solveig Slettahjell and The Source to name a few. This "musician's musician" is given a blank slate to Jazzfest 2016, to do with as he pleases. His "Memorabilia" is defined as "events, objects and events that are memorable," what we collect and what do we sit really left with the momentous memories, objects, events and gods during a life. The music will be performed by two trios, Mats Eilertsen Trio and Trio Mediaeval (the renowned vocal trio consisting of the three sopranos Anna Maria Friman, Linn Andrea Fuglseth and Berit Opheim). This will be a riveting experience at the highest level, when two Norwegian trios with international success in vastly different expressions meet in a rare crossover format.

Mambo Companeros & the Trondheim Soloists
Mambo Compañeros turns 20 years old this year.
This engaging band has spread happy and genuine salsa rhythms to the Norwegian people for a lifetime, and Jazz Fest will be more than happy to join the celebration. In celebration of the anniversary, they've been in the studio and recorded a new album. As partner of the recording and concert they have chosen none other than the country's most acclaimed chamber ensemble, Trondheim Soloists. The CD will contain the most famous Latin tunes from the 1940s and 50s. We're talking about giant hits from artists such as Dean Martin, Perry Como, Caterina Valente, Nat King Cole to name a few. And songs like Cuando Cuando, Arrivedeci Rome, La Paloma and Mambo Italiano in new and modern arrangement.

Ola Kvernberg «Steamdome»
Ola Kvernberg "Steam Dome»
This spring's wildest train ride. Some Railroads are tougher than others. Steam Dome is one of them. The title composer Ola Kvernberg has chosen to give his latest project is not accidental. Steam Dome is purely percussive music. Progressive and brutally aspiring like a runaway train. Life-affirming, surreal and bulging like Sergio Leone's spaghetti westerns. Steam Dome will evaporate visual energy. The music will wriggle between steep cliffs, vast panoramas, sharp turns, diving and night landscape where the only thing keeping the point you have, the hypnotic rhythm of a train that never stops. This can be considered as a follow-up Kvernberg´s huge success "Liarbird". Ola is ready for new challenges, and Trondheim's own star violinist will deliver a new adventure.
